Essentially, the state of Kansas allows for lawmakers to use a “special incentive program” that was started just two years ago to fund a project like the Kansas City Chiefs. Last year, Glendale, Arizona was told that it could make $270 million dollars in economic impact from hosting a Final Four event in 2024. This year, some groups mentioned the possibility of the state making an impact between $250-$300 million from the Final Four. Others believed it was possibly for the state to bring in over $400 million dollars. The 2017 Final Four in Arizona brought the state $324.5 million dollars of economic benefits. Will Saskatoon ever replace the SaskTel Centre?
Saskatoon announced that a proposed new arena would cost $178 million. If we apply 7% inflation to that number, then it now becomes $191 million in today's dollars. Except, we don't know whether construction costs, project costs or land acquisition were originally included in the cities estimate. If we include major capital projects into this project, the cost goes up towards $300 million.
